TN welcomes introduction of Women's Bill

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi welcomed the Centre's decision to introduce the Women's Reservation bill in Parliament during the current session. "I welcome the Centre's decision," he told to reporters.

Asked if the DMK mayors would boycott the 'conference of Mayors of commonwealth countries', to be inaugurated by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse at Dehradun on November 27, protesting the recent attacks on Tamils in the island republic, he said the decision was left to the Mayors concerned.

Chennai Mayor M Subramanian had already expressed his inability to attend the conference on the plea his presence was needed for co-coordinating relief work in rain ravaged Chennai.

The DMK mayors of Tirunelveli, Salem and Madurai Corporations were also unlikely to participate citing some reason or the other, DMK sources said.
