While talking to HT, Asha Devi pointed out that she might support the election campaign of Sitaram Jaiswal, the Samajwadi Party candidate for the mayoral post. She claimed that Jaiswal is a gentleman and an established trader. She said if Jaiswal would invite her, she might consider participating in his election campaign.
Asha Devi said in her opinion to beat the drum is better than to be a mayor. It is noteworthy that in last corporation election, the resident of the city had supported eunuch Asha Devi to register their protest against the political inactiveness of various political leaders and their attitude to neglect development process in the city.
Asha Devi said that the people had given her negative votes but she did her best to step up the development process in the city carried out by Municipal Corporation.
She claimed that during her tenure she gave a face-lift to entire city and construction of roads and drainage in all the localities was made possible.
Responding to a question she denied the possibility of joining any political party and ridicules that when devoted party workers like Sitaram Jaiswal and aspirant of mayoral ticket from Samajwadi Party failed to get their party ticket that would prefer her. She said she would continue her political career as an independent candidate.
She claimed that Municipal Corporation constructed Dharmshala overbridge due to her cooperative attitude and allocation of the funds.
