Senior VHP office bearers and saints also vowed to remove the impediments coming in the way of temple construction. They lashed out at political parties on issues directly related to Hindus. Senior BJP leaders were also attacked.

The Dharm Sansad which began around 2 pm in the camp of Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati, witnessed a huge turn out.

VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia, who was the first to speak, persuaded people to chant Jai Sri Ram several times. He said the attack on Hindus that began during the time of Muhammad Bin Qasim, was continuing even now.

The sanctity of Hindus was being challenged and their religion was being shown disrespect. A conspiracy to destroy the Ganga, cow and temples had been hatched, he alleged without naming any person or party.

He said time had come when a violent agitation on the above issues must be launched. The next Ardh Kumbh in which Hindus from nearly one lakh villages will assemble, will witness the launching of this agitation, he said and added squads ready to sacrifice their lives could be dispatched to Ayodhya from Prayag.

The country will see another violent agitation within a year if the government failed to acquire land for the construction of Ram Mandir and hand it over to the Nyas.

The Gujarat government’s law banning cow slaughter had been recognised by the Supreme Court, Togadia said. He called upon other States to have similar law to save the cow. He said Hindu vote bank must be built to safeguard Hindus’ interests.

The VHP, he said, had the strength to shake the foundation of the Central government but would do so only if the saints so desired.

Mahant Nritya Gopal Das from Ayodhya said the construction of the Ram Mandir was getting delayed due to political reasons another agitation in this regard was the need of the hour.

The Sansad was presided over by Ramanujacharya Srikrishnacharya and conducted by Rajendra Singh Pankaj.

Prominent among those who attended the Dharm Sansad, included Ashok Singhal, Sadhwi Ritambhara, Swami Vasudevanand, Dr Ram Vilas Das Vedanti, Swami Narendra nand, Vidyanand Giri from Rishikesh and others.
