A deputy director in the industries department was found in a compromising position when the city police on Monday raided a salon located in S K Puri area and busted a sex racket going on there. A total of five persons, including the high-profile visitor, were arrested.
SSP, Patna, Manu Maharaaj, said that he, along with a team of officers, caught the government officer red-handed in an objectionable posture with a girl inside the salon. “The officer has been identified as Anand Kumar Vardhan, posted as deputy director (technical) in the
industries department,” he added.
“It was really shocking to see this officer in a compromising position with the girl. I asked them to dress up and come out of the room,” the SSP said.
The salon namely Barber is located in the Verma Centre in S K Puri.
Others arrested from the same premises were identified as Raja alias Manman Khan of Nawada, Tuntun Kumar of Gaya, Himanshu Kumar and Abhijit Kumar.
The special police team, which carried out the raid after getting a complaint of clandestine activity going on in the salon, also seized sex enhancement drugs like Viagra, 22 packets of condoms, cigarette packets, cellphones and Rs 19,700 in cash.
One of the arrested persons, Abhijeet, suspected to be the kingpin of the sex racket, told the police that he brought girls from Nepal and West Bengal and pushed them into flesh trade.
He also disclosed that customers were charged `1000, on an hourly basis, for spending time with girls. “We will be interrogating him further to ascertain who are his other accomplices in the racket,” said the SSP.
A case has been lodged with S K Puri police station in this connection. All the arrested persons would be sent to jail on Tuesday after interrogation.
Of late, the city has seen an increase in flesh trade activities. The police have busted a few rackets being run from apartments and salons located in residential and commercial areas.
