Baron Manjhi alias Uttam, a self-styled area commander of Kasmar-Piparwar in the district, called Bokaro SP Saket Kumar Singh over phone saying he was willing to turn in, Inspector General of Police, K S Meena, told reporters.

The SP immediately sent a team and brought him this morning.

"Manjhi is carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head. Now that he has surrendered, he himself will get the amount, besides the government provisions under the surrender package," Meena said.

Manjhi also led the police to a spot where they recovered four rifles, 410 bullets, a large amount of ammonium nitrate and naxal literature.
