THE UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) officials will hold a meeting with their Noida and Greater Noida counterparts in Noida on Sunday. They will discuss the issue related to losses the corporation may suffer by plying buses between Noida/Greater Noida and Delhi.

The two authorities, Noida and Greater Noida have agreed to give Rs 60 crore to the UPSRTC to purchase CNG buses to be plied between Noida/Greater Noida and Delhi. “We have already got Rs 30 crore for buses,” said UPSRTC additional managing director, DK Gupta.

However, the UPSRTC’s real fear is that it is sure that plying buses to Delhi will incur heavy losses to it. “The DTC suffers around Rs 10 per km per bus that plies between Noida and Delhi and our will be the same situation. The venture will incur around Rs 60 lakh loss every month,” Gupta said.

He said that the UPSRTC Board of Directors had passed a resolution demanding the two development authorities to compensate for the losses it will suffer every month. “They are making for DTC’s losses as also for our losses we are suffering due to already plying 17 buses there and we want the same arrangement should be applicable,” said Gupta.

He claimed that the Noida city bus service would be one of the best in the country. People will also get direct service to towns like Agra and Deharadun.

Some buses will ply within Noida and Greater Noida too, he added. The low-floor buses will be full of passenger comfort and a good number of buss will be air-conditioned also.
