The Vivekanand Marg Vyapar Mandal would also complain to the chief minister against the harassment of traders by the Nagar Nigam’s anti -encroachment cell, said president Rajiv Nayyar. Nayyar told presspersons today that on May 15, the NN’s anti-encroachment team, led by the assistant municipal commissioner reached the Vivekanand Marg and started removing encroachments. The team also seized the parcels of electronic goods of RS Agarwala and Sons which were lying outside the showroom and started throwing them on the truck.
This led to tension between the traders and the assistant municipal commissioner. The matter was later sorted out peacefully on the assurance of circle officer Rajesh Chaurasia, he said. “But the next day we were shocked to find out that the NN had lodged an FIR in the Kotwali against four traders. We complained to the DM but we received only empty assurances. Four days back we came to know that an FIR had again been lodged against nine more traders on false charges. All this was done with the motive to harass the traders,” he added.
