In 2010, the traffic police had recommended 188 driving licences to be cancelled as their holders were frequent violators of law. This year, the number of such violators has reached 10 so far. Police will also upload the list of such offenders on Facebook.

“If people driving vehicles in the city breach traffic laws more than thrice, their driving licences will be cancelled. The violators will be monitored with the help of cameras and other equipment. We will also upload their information on Facebook page,” said Bharti Arora, DCP (traffic).

“We are making a list of frequent violators and will ask the licence issuing authority to cancel their licences,” Arora said.

The offender’s licence will be punched each time he/she is caught for rule violation. In case a driver is fined for a fourth time, the licence will be cancelled and the driver will not be issued licence at all, she said.

“A large number of drivers die in accidents due to drunken driving,” said Arora.
