Police have recovered jewellery worth of Rs 1 crore from their possession.

The miscreants are said to be members of an interstate gang involved in cases of theft on running trains. Ashok Kumar Gupta, a resident of Lucknow, was coming to Gorakhpur on May 25 by Gorakhnath Express in AC-II class to participate in a marriage. The miscreants stole their bags full of jewellery and diamonds. He lodged an FIR at Gonda and at Charbagh in Lucknow.

Inspector, Government Railway Police (GRP), DK Sasodia claimed that GRP had given some clues and details to the STF for electronic surveillance following which the STF traced the miscreants. He said the miscreants were trying to sell the jewellery and diamonds in Varanasi, but when they realised that some one was following them, they change their plans and went to Lucknow to sell the valuables.
