Travel plans galore for I-Day weekend

Travel companies are sparing no means to woo the Indian traveller in the extended weekend looming up on August 15.
“We have seen a 10 per cent increase in our bookings and we expect them to rise in the coming days,” said Neelu Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Ezeego1.com, the Cox&Kings travel portal. “The segments that travel during this period are singles and double-income (couples) with no kids.”

Online travel firm Travelguru has a host of packages such as a three-star hotel room in Goa for Rs 989 per person per night on twin-sharing basis. A room at Udaipur’s Umaid Mahal could cost Rs 931.
Preferred destinations include Goa, Matheran, Kochi and Kanyakumari, Rajasthan, Shimla and Nainital.
Ezeego has packages to Goa starting from Rs 995 per person per day for three night and four days. Similarly, for Matheran, Kochi and Kanyakumari the offers start at Rs 1,865, Rs 1,299 and Rs 899 respectively for per person per day.
Jet Airways and travel agency Jet Air are offering deals through Jet Escapes packages with return airfare, accommodation, airport transfers, buffet breakfast and taxes.
Then there are the luxury packages — Jaipur’s five star Mansingh Palace at Rs 15,142 per person per night, or
Rs 17,979 per person per night at the four-star Lazy Lagoon in Goa. Packages at four- and five-star hotels at Kochi begin at Rs 36,579 per person per night.
The Oberoi group is also offering attractive packages at Oberoi and Trident Hotels, starting at Rs 7,900 plus taxes in Udaipur, Agra, Jaipur, Cochin and Bhubaneshwar. Rooms in Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra, Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur and Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur are available for Rs 42,000 plus taxes for a 2-night stay — the normal rates here are Rs 29,500 plus taxes for a night.
