Three Maoists were killed by the tribals in the Visakhapatnam agency area on Sunday. The tribals were angered by an execution of one of their own by the ultras.

According to the sources, the incident occurred when five Maoists visited Korukonda area and abducted two men - Simhachalam and Sanjeeva Rao. The Maoists killed Rao, a former Maoist, at Balapam village branding him a police informer.
Knowing about the killing about 400 tribals gathered around the Maoists and questioned the killing. Reports say they also objected an attempt to kill Simhachalam. When the Maoists threatened them with their guns, the angry tribals attacked them destroying the guns and killing three Maoists.
The deceased Maoists were identified as China Rangarao alias Sharat, Korra Nageshwar Rao and Palasa Ganapathi. The other two escaped.
While bodies of Sanjeeva Rao and Rangarao were taken over by the Police, Nageshwar Rao body was swept away in a stream. Relatives who took away the body of Ganapathi later agreed to hand it over to the police.
Speaking to reporters in Vijayawada on Monday afternoon AP-DGP JV Ramudu confirmed the incident. "The episode shows that there is no support among the people for the Maoists who keep them in control with their weapons," Ramudu said stating it as a significant development.
Ramudu also denied any police involvement in the incident.
