Truck hits electric wire, Kanwaria electrocuted; eight others injured

A 25-year-old Kanwaria was electrocuted after a live power cable fell on the mini truck he was travelling in along with other kanwarias on Monday night. The incident took place when deceased Manan, a resident of Machan ki Dhani village near Farukhnagar, was returning from Haridwar.

A 25-year-old Kanwaria was electrocuted after a live power cable fell on the mini truck he was travelling in along with other kanwarias on Monday night.

The incident took place when deceased Manan, a resident of Machan ki Dhani village near Farukhnagar, was returning from Haridwar.

ASI Mukesh Chand Kaushik said, "Manan along with Anil, Bijender, Praveen and 12 other friends went to Haridwar on July 13 to get 'the dak kanwar' (kanwariyas coming on vehicles having a fixed time of their journey). When the truck reached Kaliwayas village, its top touched the cable of wires. While Manan was electrocuted, eight others were injured."

"Manan was rushed to the Lord Krishan hospital at Farukhnagar where doctors declared him brought dead. The eight injured are receiving treatment at the hospital," he said.
