Twelve Indians part of Japanese youth team

Twelve Indian youths will join nearly 150 youngsters from across the globe to take part in a cruise organised under "Ship for World Youth Programme".

Twelve Indian youths will join nearly 150 youngsters from across the globe to take part in a cruise organised under Japan's "Ship for World Youth Programme".

In its 16th edition, the programme will bring together some 120 Japanese youths with their counterparts from 12 countries, including the US, Russia, Egypt and Norway.

The Indian contingent will reach Japan Tuesday and stay till January 21, during which time they will meet Japan's crown prince and Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, said a statement from the Japanese embassy here.

On January 21, the youngsters will board the chartered ship "Nippon Maru" from Yokohoma port and head for a cruise that will take them to Singapore, Mumbai and Dar-es-Salaam before returning to Japan March 3.

The youth affairs and sports ministry selected the Indian participants for the programme.
