Two killed, 22 injured as tempo turns turtle in Jalna district

Two persons were killed and 22 others, belonging to a marriage party, were injured when a tempo in which they were traveling turned turtle at the Rui Phata, today.

Condition of eight of the injured is critical according to hospital sources. They are undergoing treatment at the government hospital.

Rural police said that the marriage party of Sunil Janardhan Dhaykawas was returning in the tempo from Khaparkhe Hiwara village. When it reached Rui Phata, the driver lost control over the tempo and it turned turtle.

Shivaji Tukaram Pisule, 35, was killed on the spot while Guddi Rohidas Kharat succumbed to her injures in the hospital.

Among the 22 persons injured, eight are in a critical condition, police said adding that the driver was under the influence of liquor.

A case has been registered in this regard.
