Two killed, 24 injured in Batala road accident

Two persons, including a student, were on Monday killed and 24 injured when a bus carrying them collided with a tree near Sohal village under Dhariwal police station, police said.

A private bus was going to Amritsar from Pathankot when it collided with a tree while the driver of the bus was trying to cross a tractor trolley, which was coming from an opposite direction, they said.

The bus was carrying some students of Little Flower convent School Dhariwal from Gurdaspur. Payal Gautam, a student of Class 7 from the school, and an unidentified person died on the spot.

The injured, who included the bus driver, were admitted to community health centre Dhariwal, civil hospital Batala and Gurdaspur.

Four persons were shifted to Guru Nanak Hospital Amritsar.
