Two killed, six injured by ultras in Tripura

NLFT insurgents attacked a passenger vehicle at Purano Itvatta area in West Tripura district on Wednesday.

Two persons were killed and six others injured on Wednesday when suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) insurgents attacked a passenger vehicle at Purano Itvatta area in West Tripura district, police has said.

A group of people were going to Tulashikhar market by a passenger jeep when it was attacked by the insurgents who were hiding behind roadside bushes, they said.

The ultras rained bullets from automatic weapons killing Shivcharan Debnath and Pijush Pal on the spot, police said. Three of the injured, whose condition was stated to be critical, were shifted to GB Hospital, they said.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot with additional forces to launch a combing operation there, they added.
