Two militants were killed in an encounter with police commandos in Imphal, official sources said on Thursday.

Two militants were killed in an encounter with police commandos in Imphal west district of Manipur, official sources said on Thursday.

The commandos, attached to Imphal West district police station, were frisking passers-by at Khuman Lampak area near Imphal late on Wednesday night when they spotted two persons moving in a suspicious manner.

When asked to stop, the two militants fired, the sources said adding that in the ensuing exchange of fire, the militants were killed on the spot.

One 9mm pistol along with some rounds of ammunition and one hand grenade were recovered from the spot.
