Two more persons test positive for swine flu in Kerala

Two persons, including a doctor working at a naval hospital in Kochi, have tested positive for swine flu in Kerala, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 71.

Two persons, including a doctor working at a naval hospital in Kochi, have tested positive for swine flu in Kerala, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 71.

The 36-year-old doctor at INHS Sanjivani hospital and a 19-year-old engineering student were admitted with swine flu symptoms at the Aluva taluk hospital near here on August 12, hospital sources said on Sunday.

Their throat swab test report, which was received on Sunday, confirm their H1NI status, they said.

The treatment of the two have already begun, the sources said.

Sixteen persons with suspected flu symptoms, including four admitted on Sunday, were undergoing treatment at the nearby Perumbavoor taluk hospital, hospital sources said.

Kerala reported its first swine flu fatality on August 11 with a 35-year-old man succumbing to the virus at a private hospital in Thiruvanathapuram.
