Two naxals killed; TDP leader gunned down

A local Guerilla Squad commander and a woman naxal were killed in an encounter while a village level TDP leader was gunned down.

A local Guerilla Squad (LGS) commander and a woman naxal were killed in an encounter while a village level TDP leader was gunned down by suspected naxals in Andhra Pradesh today.

On an information that some naxals have assembled in Veldonda village in Mahaboobnagar district, a special police party went there, police said.

On seeing the police team, the extremists opened fire at them which was retaliated by police in which LGS Kalwakurthy Dalam Commander Prasad alias Naraimha Reddy and an unidentified woman naxal, were killed on the spot.

Two others, however, managed to escape, police said adding that a 9mm pistol was recovered from the scene.

In Anantapur district, a ZPTC member Suryanarayana Reddy of TDP was shot dead by four suspected naxals on the outskirts of Venkatampally village.

Four suspected naxals opened four rounds of fire at Reddy killing him on the spot, police said.
