ULFA militant killed in Assam encounter

The militants in a bid to escape opened fire and the police retaliated killing one, while the other two managed to escape.

A ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with police in Kamalnagar area of the city on Tuesday, police said here.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house on a hilltop in Kamalnagar where three militants had taken shelter.

The militants in a bid to escape opened fire and the police retaliated killing one, while the other two managed to escape, the police said.

Three detonators, fuse wires and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

The police has launched a search operation in the area to catch the militants who escaped, sources said.
