Unruly scene on Hewett Road

Clash between rival student groups of Boys Anglo Inter College created an unruly scene at Hewett Road. The students group gave vent to their ire damaging several shops with hockey sticks, iron rods, etc. They even chased away several commuters and attacked all those who tried to pacify them. They caused damaged to even to an under construction complex, police said.
It all started with a minor clash between two students, Rishabh Sonkar and Shahnawaz. The matter was, however, resolved immediately. Thereafter, one of the groups came to the street with dozens of people carrying hockey stick, iron rods, etc and went on the rampage. Case has been registered against nine students, including Rishabh Sonkar, Dilip Sonkar, Karan Sonkar and six other unidentified miscreants in this connection.
Principal of Boys Anglo Inter College, AK Kiriti, told this newspaper that there has been no clash between students inside the college premises. “If there has been any clash outside the school premises, I’m not aware of it,” he said. Kirti added that Rishabh Sonkar is the college prefect and he was with him for quite sometime on Wednesday.
Student leaders of DAV College and Kali Charan College also created ruckus. While student leaders of DAV College tried to set up road blockage at the busy Naka crossing while student leaders of Kali Charan clashed on some petty issue outside the college premises.
