The State Government has recently appointed Shukla as Chairman of UPTRON with the rank of State Minister. He is also in-charge of Govind Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency of the Samajwadi Party (SP).

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, Shukla said that revival of UPTRON would be his main objective.

“The reasons for closure of the units can be ascertained only after carrying out intensive survey of all the closed units of the organisation,” Shukla said.

He said that a special package would be demanded from the Chief Minister to revive UPTRON.

Shukla said UPTRON was a major source of employment in the State. Therefore, efforts would be made to revive so that educated youths could get the job opportunity.

Commenting on the problems faced by the residents of Govind Nagar constituency, of which he is the incharge, Shukla said that a package for development of Govind Nagar had already been demanded from the Chief Minister.

“The Government will finalise the package at the earliest,” Shukla further said.

Raising the issue of long pending demand for handing over labour colonies to their legal occupants, Shukla said, “The Chief Minister has assured that labour colonies will be handed over to their legal occupants after completion of all formalities.”

Hitting out at the Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) campaign to woo Brahmins, Shukla termed it as a gimmick.

“BSP supremo Mayawati is taking a considerable amount of money from Brahmins for issuing party tickets,” Shukla alleged.

However, SP government appointed a Brahmin as the Speaker of Vidhan Sabha, which is the second most post, Shukla said.

He also said that the SP had given proper representation to Brahmins in the State Government.
