RESENTMENT IS brewing among the senior professors at the Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture Technology University (CSA) over the departmental promotion made by the Vice-Chancellor Dr MM Agarwal.

According to the professors, the vice-chancellor violating all the seniority norms promoted about half a dozen junior professors to the post of Dean on the pretext of streamlining the admission process to various departments.
Senior professors told the Hindustan Times that if the vice-chancellor failed to render justice to them they would be forced to file a writ petition challenging the orders of the vice-chancellor.
They alleged that it has become a routine procedure of ignoring the claims of seniority at the time of promotion just to oblige the ‘yes men’ of the vice-chancellor.
Senior professors further alleged that promotion of professors to the post of Dean would adversely affect the teaching at the institute. They cautioned the university administration would be gripped in caste politics, which was hitherto on its low ebb.
On the other hand, preparations were in full swing to begin the fresh admissions at the university from the third week of July. The newly appointed Deans have taken the charge of their respective departments and have laid the norms for granting admissions to the students, who have cleared the entrance examination.
Meanwhile, arrangements were also being made to host a six days national seminar to discuss the latest agro-technologies for raising the production of wheat and paddy. The seminar is scheduled for August 18 to August 23.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of the CSA University about 400 agro-scientists throughout the country were expected to participate at the seminar. The object of the seminar was to develop a research strategy with respect to raising the production of major crops in the country and to give recommendations to the Planning Commission for the Eleventh Five year Plan.
The V-C said that despite the best efforts the production of wheat and rice in the country could not meet the desired targets. There was a need to achieve the fixed production targets to avoid scarcity of these two essential food grains
