It was reported that documents related to purchase of equipment and those related to financial bungling were burnt. Some of the documents were related to purchase on which enquiry was also set up.

However, when vice chancellor Prof Mahendra Bhandari was asked about the loss of documents ,he had several reasons to say nothing was serious enough.

“None of the important documents and specially those related with frauds are kept loose like this. We have lost documents but nothing to worry as the loss of life is greater,” he said at the press conference conducted to clarify KGMU’s position on the death of Deepak Agrawal, the 2004 batch MBBS student.

However, some of the senior faculty members had different views. They said since maintaining document is a daily affair the office staff can very well explain what all documents have been burnt. They said declaration of the loss of documents is being deliberately delayed.

Another surprising event of the day was change of attitude by the students before and after the death of Deepak. Prof Bhandari himself stated that, ‘those at hospital gave me due respect yesterday but at KGMU today things were not the same.’

Not just teachers but even the students were confused. Those present in the demonstration denied that it were KGMU students who pelted stones and burnt the offices.
