V Rai new Financial Sector head

Vinod Rai takes over as head of the Financial sector department in the Finance Ministry after he was elevated as Special Secretary.

Banking Secretary Vinod Rai on Saturday took over as head of the Financial Sector department in the Finance Ministry after he was elevated as Special Secretary.

An IAS officer of Kerala Cadre, Rai was until now an additional secretary.

As he was not of the rank of secretary so far, the banking division came under the Economic Affairs Department, which is headed by Ashok Jha.

His predecessor NS Sisodia was a full fledged secretary and hence headed the Financial Sector division.
