Staking claim over Sanjay Gandhi’s political legacy in Sultanpur, Gandhi said, “You had held my father’s hand. Now I want to hold your hand.”

Amidst conch shells blowing and placard carrying youths hailing him as the next chief minister, Gandhi dropped enough hints that he was all set to foray into the Congress bastion.

Flanked by former party chief Nitin Gadkari, who is said to have played a part in his elevation, Gandhi attacked the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party for organising Brahmin meets. “My mother told me to only remember humanity,” he told the cheering crowds at the Swabhiman rally.
