He is charged with possessing and destroying an AK-56 rifle, reports Mustafa Plumber.india Updated: Oct 25, 2006 16:53 IST
Actor Sanjay Dutt appeared before the special TADA court on Wednesday in response to summons issued to him. He has been charged with possessing an AK-56 rifle and destroying it with the help of friends.
Judge PD Kode exempted Dutt and 25 other accused from personal appearances until further orders. Talking to reporters outside the court, the public prosecutor told reporters that the verdict on Dutt is likely to be delivered after the Diwali vacation.
Wearing a blue shirt — his lucky colour — and a pair of denims, Dutt reached the court inside Arthur Road Jail around 11.05 am surrounded by policemen and a horde of fans.
He was frisked inside the court premises and handed a card bearing his number 117 and was told to sign the entry register. Once inside the courtroom, Dutt sat on his favourite second-last bench along with co-accused Yusuf Nullwala, Ajay Marwah, Kersi Adajania and Rusi Mulla. When his name was called out, Dutt stood up and raised his hand.
The actor keenly followed the court proceedings, but appeared nervous and kept going out for a smoke. Soon after the judgments were pronounced, the court allowed all the accused on bail to leave, including Dutt.
Outside the court, Dutt lit a cigarette and tried to fish out information from lawyers on his verdict. Till then, its seems ‘Munnabhai’ will have some sleepless nights.
