Left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori was named New Zealand's cricket Player Of The Year for the second straight year.

Vettori took 19 Test or first-class wickets in the year just ended at an average of 17.47, and 23 wickets in one-day internationals at an economy rate of 3.87. He also scored New Zealand's fastest Test century against Zimbabwe and averaged 51.2 in Tests in the past 12 months.

Nathan Astle, who was twice dropped from the New Zealand team in the past season, was its best one-day international batsman with two centuries and four half-centuries at an average of 45.

Despite injuries, Shane Bond was the best one-day bowler with 36 wickets at an average of 18.11.

Discarded international opener Matthew Sinclair was New Zealand's best first-class batsman with 848 runs at an average of 53, and Chris Martin the best first-class bowler with 50 wickets at 23.
