Villagers block traffic over'mysterious' death of cows

A non-governmental organisation 'Goputra Sena' and locals of Alikan village here blocked the Musahibwala bus stand main road and raised anti-administration slogans, in connection with the 12 cows, who died after consuming the poisonous fodder, at the village here on Friday.

Mysterious death of a dozen cows panicked the villagers. The protesters were demanding strict action against the accused, who had allegedly mixed some poisonous substance in the cows fodder.

When administration came to know about the traffic jam, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) reached the spot with the police force and assured the protesters of taking strict action against the accused.

SDM Santlal Pachar assured the villagers that the police would arrest the accused within four days.

Harpal Surya, 'Goputra Sena' president, said: "We will call a statewide protest if the police failed to nab the accused within the given time."
