Violence rocks Vadodara

Indefinite curfew was clamped in communally sensitive Raopura area of the city, when mobs of rival communities resorted to stone-throwing and arson soon after the victory of BJP MLA Yogesh Patel in the assembly polls, police said.

Police lobbed 16 teargas shells and fired several rounds in the air to quell the mob.

One shop was also torched by the mob, though were no reports of any injury.

Senior police officials are camping in curfew-clamped Salatwada area and Raopura main road.

Officials said the situation was tense but under control.
