Senior Congress leader Moti Lal Vora, in-charge of party affairs in Uttaranchal, on Sunday met sulking Uttaranchal Chief Minister ND Tiwari, who had quit on Saturday.
Vora later said a decision on Tiwari's continuance would be taken by party chief Sonia Gandhi.
Emerging from the hour-long meeting with Tiwari at his official residence in Dehra Dun, Vora told reporters the Chief Minister would meet Sonia Gandhi soon.
A decision on him would be taken by the party chief.
Vora said he would apprise the party high command of the political situation in the state which goes to assembly polls next year.
However, he refused to comment when asked whether the assembly elections would be held under Tiwari's leadership.
Tiwari, who has been sulking for quiet sometime for allegedly being marginalised in Congress hierarchy, had on Saturday quit as Chief Minister and sent his resignation to Gandhi.
The 81-year-old leader had kept away from the AICC plenary in Hyderabad in January and was also not nominated to the all-powerful Congress Working Committee which was reconstituted ahead of the plenary.
