Warrant against MLA in rape case

A local court has issued a fresh warrant against BSP MLA Mohd Alim and his brother in a five-year-old rape case and directed them to be present in the court on November 18.

A local court has issued a fresh warrant against BSP MLA Mohd Alim and his brother in a five-year-old rape case and directed them to be present in the court on November 18.

Alim, a BSP MLA from Bulandshahar, and his brother Mohd Unus had defied the warrants numerous times before.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sumit Chandra directed the police to ensure that the two present are present during the hearing on Nov 18.

According to the prosecution, police had freed 48 Nepali girls from Apollo circus on June 5, 2003 and later a case was filed against Alim, his brother and the owner of the circus accusing them of illegal confinement and rape of one of the girls.

A medical examinations had confirmed rape.

Chief Minister Mayawati had handed over the case to CB-CID during her previous tenure in 2004.
