Water conservation awareness rally held

The rally started from Shaheed Udyan and culminated at Bharat Mata Mandir in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth. Activists were carrying placards conveying messages such as ‘Jal Bachao, Jeevan Bachao’ and ‘Jal Hi Jeevan Hain’.

Artists of Prerna Kala Manch also staged street plays ‘Jal Ki Hay Hay’ and ‘Hay Re Pani’ at Shaheed Udyan and Bharat Mata Mandir respectively. The play ‘Hay Re Pani’ was based on the story of Munshi Prem Chand ‘Thakur Ka Kuan’. The street plays displayed the water crisis and urged the denizens to save water.

Moti Lal Gupta directed both the plays. Mukesh Jhanjharwala, Harry, Deepak Pandey, Ajay Thapa, Aslam Sheikh, Manoj Srivastava, Awanish Dwivedi, Shakeel Ahmad, Mansi Arun, Manvi Arun and Brijesh Singh staged the plays in an impressive manner.

An analysis of week-long ‘Jal Bachao, Jeevan Bachao’ campaign was presented in which it was found that public participation was a must to ensure water conservation at mass level. The volunteers also decided to launch a campaign for renovation of water reservoirs across the district from the last week of June this year.
