Water from Periyar dam to be released
Water from Periyar dam will be released for irrigation from tomorrow.

The release of water will benefit 12,370 acres of land in uthamapalayam taluk and 2,337 acres in periyakulam taluk in Theni district, according to press release from the executive engineer of the periyar-vaigai basin circle.
The PWD has urged the farmers to raise short-term crops and use the available water economically,the release added.
