Superintendent of railway police, Howrah, Milan Kanti Das said Debshankar Shaw, father of six daughters, was arrested on Friday night from Makhla locality of Uttarpara.
He was charged with molestation and snatching.
A 25-year-old woman had jumped off from the Howrah-New Delhi Janata Express near Belur station in the district to save her honour from the molester and got injured on Sunday evening.
The rail police on Friday released a sketch of the accused.
The woman's mobile phone allegedly snatched by Shaw, however, could not be found as he had sold it, Das said, adding efforts were on to find out its buyer.
