We are proud of overseas Indians: PM
Manmohan Singh said the Govt would do everything possible to ensure this "brain bank" contributes to the "resurgence of their motherland.
India's vast Diaspora has done the country proud and the Government would do everything possible to ensure this "brain bank" contributes to the "resurgence of their motherland", Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said.

"Our shared kinship and our natural affiliation make it incumbent on us to create a proper ambience to enable overseas Indians to relate in a meaningful manner to their motherland," he said in a message in the inaugural issue of the Overseas Indian newsletter.
The Prime Minister will release the publication at the inauguration on Saturday of the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations at Hyderabad.
Through the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs "we are committed to a closer and wide-ranging interaction between India and overseas Indians", he added.
Pointing out that 25 million overseas Indians living in 110 countries are united by the common bond of Indian-ness, Manmohan Singh said: "They have done India proud by their splendid achievements and constitute a vast reservoir of human resources.
"As Indian talent soars high in every realm of human activity, and as India emerges as a major power at the international level, the overseas Indians look back at India with love affection and pride.
"As a brain bank outside India, the overseas Indians are better placed to invest their human and material resources in India and contribute to the resurgence of the motherland as a major player in the world. By connecting with the overseas Indians at deeper levels and harnessing their talent for the resurgence of India, we can make the 21st century as Indian century," the Prime Minister added.
He hoped the Overseas Indian publication "will also shed light in the different dimensions of the overseas Indian community and awaken consciousness among its readers about their activities and contributions to the cause of India".
The publication is brought out in English, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu.
