WHO team praises drive against polio

A TEAM of the World Health Organisation officials today met Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to discuss the status of Pulse Polio campaign in the state. Praising the UP government, head of the pulse polio programme Dr David Haman said that in the earlier survey 1,242 cases of polio were found in Uttar Pradesh but with the efforts of the government the number had come down to 28. The chief minister said that the campaign to eradicate polio was taken up seriously by the government and there had been success in the mission.

The chief minister said that the campaign to eradicate polio was taken up seriously by the government and there had been success in the mission.

“The government involved all MPs, MLAs, gram pradhans and even religious and spiritual leaders to spread the message against polio,” the yadav said.He assured the representatives of WHO that the government would take every step to ensure that the Pulse Polio campaign was a complete success in all districts.
