The BPO employee is staying put in Bangalore with her roommates at their PG accommodation despite the exodus of people from the northeast.

Khound's parents in Golaghat taluk headquarters are worried and want her to return, but having spent seven years in the city, she is not buying into the rumours.

"I have no fear in Bangalore. I hope to get promoted as manager next year," said Khound, who did her B Com graduate from Bangalore College and later acquired a degree in computer applications.

What's more, she is in love with a Kannadiga she met at a dance class.

"I have not had a single bad experience with locals. I think I will marry and settle here... Our people are just reacting to rumours."

Like Khound, several white-collar employees from the northeast, including teachers and IT professionals, have chosen to ignore the rumours.
