Woman dies of swine flu in Valley

The fatal swine flu virus on Tuesday claimed one more life in Kashmir, taking the toll to around 17.

According the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), a 55-year-old female patient admitted to the hospital on March 4 and had tested positive for H1N1 strand.

“The woman died today. She had associated co-morbidities in the form of chronic kidney disease,” said a SKIMS spokesperson.

The swine flu victim was a resident of Nowhatta in Srinagar.

A total number of infected people in the valley have touched the 394 figure.

“One patient with the swine flu is admitted in the isolation ward of SKIMS,” said the spokesperson.

On Tuesday, 53 patients were checked up in the outpatient department up to 2 pm. “Nine samples were taken from the suspected patients,” said the hospital spokesperson.
