"Parvati Devi, a resident of Dhanbad, jumped into the Barakar river with her three daughters as she was passing through acute poverty," Deputy Superintendent of Police Debarshi Dutta told PTI.

While Parvati's daughters, Asha (4) and Suman (6), drowned, labourers engaged in constructing a railway bridge nearby rescued her and other child Arati, he said.
