The victim has been identified as Esha Madan, a resident of Mayur Vihar in Delhi. Police sources said that she had left behind a suicide note of four pages, stating that no one was responsible for her act and she was taking the extreme step as she was fed up with her life.

Madan also wrote that her parents and a male colleague, whom she has named in the note, should not be harassed in any manner by the police.

A vegetable vendor, who was standing near the tower, witnessed the incident. Joint commissioner of police Maheshwar Dayal said, "The police have launched an investigation and have questioned her parents as well as Madan's colleagues."
