Women exhorted to recognise their power

SAHYOG, A legal cell, organised a programme on ?Challenges of Women?s Empowerment? at Sadhana Sadan on Sunday, which witnessed a huge gathering of women from Shankergarh and also from those colonies of the city where the cell has been working.

The self help groups and other voluntary organisations presented several cultural events based on violence against women and women’s empowerment on the occasion.

Justice Poonam Srivastav of the Allahabad High Court was the chief guest, who was felicitated by Sr Sheeba Jose for her achievements. She exhorted the women to acknowledge the power within them. “Women should overcome their weaknesses and utilise the laws in their favour”, she said.  Assistant general manager, NABARD Mohd Ismail gave information regarding various schemes available to self help groups. 

The event was conducted by Puja while Thelma Tailor proposed the vote of thanks. Deepika Verky, Dr Ranjana Kakkar, Pankaj Naqvi, Shehnaz Parveen, Sanjeev Singh and several others associated with Sahyog were present on the occasion.
