At a recent two-day assembly of woman activists at Guwahati under the banner of Indigenous Women's Forum for North East India (IWFNEI), they resolved to work towards "a meaningful intervention" on the issue of violence against women, a release received in Kohima stated.

Deliberating upon possible mechanism on the use of existing national and international human rights laws and procedures in local context to address the problem of violence against women, the participants also presented the women rights issues in their respective communities and the state, the release said.
