World Sight Day to focus on ?diabetic retinopathy?

A number of special drives for screening, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and corneal blinds have been undertaken in Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.

School screening programmes have been organised to detect visual problems in children. Two Continued Medical Education programmes (CME) were organised in which guest speakers delivered lectures and interacted with ophthalmologists of Bhopal.

Quiz programmes for postgraduate students were also held. Poster competitions, radio talks regarding corneal blindness and diabetic retinopathy were undertaken to create awareness.

Eye donation forms were filled from August 25 to September 8 and as many as 261 pledge forms were filled. Diabetic retinopathy is being done at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal and necessary investigations including flourescein angiography, fundus photography and laser if necessary are done.
