Yogi blames infighting for BJP?s defeat

BHARATIYA JANTA Party?s Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath said rebels in the party were responsible for the defeat of party candidate Shital Pandey. Continuing his offensive Adityanath said even senior party leaders had launched a campaign against the party in the election. He denied that the result was a mandate for the State Government. Rather, it was brought about by misuse of official machinery. He said division of upper caste votes played a role.

Leaders draw flak
COMING DOWN heavily on senior BJP leaders, including State president Keshari Nath Tripathi and former Cabinet minister Shiv Pratap Shukla, party candidate Shital Pandey said he had secured over 30 per cent of the total votes polled. He said he had got these votes due to the efforts of BJP MP Adityanath.

‘A mandate for Purvanchal’
PURVANCHAL KRANTI Parishad candidate Sanjayan Tripathi, said the support he got was a result of people’s desire for a separate Purvanchal State .

‘Pro-development verdict’
Independent candidate and rebel BJP leader Upendra Dutt Shukla said people wanted development.
