Itesham Siddiqui, a resident of Mira Road in Thane, was arrested from his residence this morning under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and produced in a local court, which remanded him to police custody till August 12.

Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) officials said Siddiqui was held after his name came up during the interrogation of one of the accused, who knew him as a SIMI activist.

Since it is suspected that SIMI played an important role in the bomb attacks on commuter trains, Siddiqui was arrested, the officials said.
