Youth rapes girl after befriending on internet

A girl was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man whom she had earlier befriended on a social networking website. The accused had shot an obscene MMS, which he was using to blackmail the victim.

A 21-year-old girl from Ujjain was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old person from Indore, who she had befriended on a social networking site. The accused also made her obscene MMS and threatened to make it public if she dared to inform anyone or forced him for marriage.

Acting on victim's complaint, Neelganga police station woman PCR arrested the accused identified as Prateek Upadhyay who hails from Indore. PCR in-charge Anuradha Raikwar said the victim informed police that three years back she became friends with a youth on a social networking site.

The girl from Subhash Nagar, Ujjain, is a tuition teacher. As their friendship bloomed, the two started seeing each other often. Prateek later proposed to the girl to win her trust and subsequently established sexual relations with her.

The accused had also made MMS of the girl and kept outraging her modesty while threatening her that he will put MMS on Internet if she revealed about it to anyone.

However, on Friday the girl approached the police and got a case of rape registered against him. She narrated the whole incident to the police. The accused has been taken into custody on girl's complaint, the police added.
