Yummy! Just tasted a handy ?sweetheart?

One can see shops loaded with red chocolate boxes. But, handmade ones are a sweet hit. A few ladies in the city are doing something special for all the lovers (and others) this V-Day. They are making assorted chocolates and wrapping them up beautifully.

Preeti Chawla, owns a chocolate and candles boutique, called Sweet Somethings in River Bank Colony and she has been very busy making chocolates for this V-Day.

“I have made a huge variety of chocolates this year. Along with it, I have made biscuits, lollipops and cup cakes as well. I have done an assortment of chocolates in mint, orange, almond and honey, lemon, butterscotch and orange peel.” The biscuits and cup cakes are iced pink and purple.

“Also I have priced all my stuff very economically. I want to cater to the masses and the youth.

Chocolates from 10-200 gms cost between Rs 10 to Rs 100. And a pack of six biscuits cost Rs 35,” says Preeti. She has also made sugar free chocolates for all the calorie conscious people.

Similarly, Deepali Agarwal who runs Les Chocolats says, “This V-Day I have got very special boxes from Mumbai. I’ve got heart- shaped see through- boxes that contain up to half a kilogram of chocolate. I have also made packing in which the box itself is made of chocolate and has chocolates kept inside. And this box has proved to be a real hit,” says Deepali.

But Kanika Khanna does it very professionally. She has laid a lot of emphasis on flavours and packaging. She says, “I have got wine glasses, pretty cane baskets and wooden boxes for packing. All the chocolates that I have made are heart shaped. Also, I have used a lot of ribbons and bows.” She has priced the chocolates at Rs 100 for 250 grams.

You can also get the chocolates and their packing customised. In no time at all the ladies will make your favourite flavour chocolate and pack them, according to your liking and budget.

One point that should be noted is that most of these chocolates sell well. Most of the ladies sell off their stuff to shops, florists, boutiques and coffee shops.

And the others take on the responsibility of selling their chocolates on themselves. “My chocolates are so much in demand that work keeps me busy all the time. Shops and customers demand chocolates all year round,” Preeti says.

“I prefer these handmade shops to the branded chocolates and they are better in taste and are packed tastefully. Also, we can get them packed according to our liking,” adds Karan Jalota.
