School girl raped by principal in Shajapur, forced to take contraceptives

A seemingly innocuous abdominal pain on Friday uncovered a heart-wrenching tale of a 12-year-old girl from a village in Shajapur district who was repeatedly raped by her principal and forced to consume contraceptives in an attempt to cover his track.

A seemingly innocuous abdominal pain on Friday uncovered a heart-wrenching tale of a 12-year-old girl from a village in Shajapur district who was repeatedly raped by her principal and forced to consume contraceptives in an attempt to cover his track.

Friday began like any other day for the family of this 12-year-old. As always, she went to her prinicpal’s house for additional help with her studies and all seemed normal.

However, when the girl complained of severe abdominal pain later that evening and informed her parents that her teacher had given her some painkillers, alarm bells were sent ringing.

A little cajoling later, the girl revealed every harrowing detail of what she had gone through at the hands of her principal.

The principal, identified as Sapan Mishra, had repeatedly raped her every time she visited his house for coaching, and fearing that the 12-year-old was pregnant when she complained of stomach pain, he had even given her two high-dose contraceptive pills to possibly cover his track.

Shajapur deputy superintendent of police Premsingh Bhadoriya said the victim, a student of class 7, and her family have lodged a complaint against principal Mishra, following which the culprit was arrested.

“Acting on victim and her family members’ complaint, the police arrested the accused and registered a case against him under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and SC/ST Act,” Bhadoriya said. “Further investigations into the case are on as police have arrested the school principal,”
