Ashok Jain appointed new chief secretary of Rajasthan

The state government appointed Ashok Jain (59) as the new chief secretary of Rajasthan on Friday . He replaced OP Meena, who retired on Friday.
A 1981-batch officer, Jain was additional chief secretary (ACS), social justice and empowerment and social security; tribal area development and Coordination – skill, employment and entrepreneurship, women and child development department and Chairman, Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation, Rajasthan.
He superseded two officer —A Mukhopadhaya, at present Chairman Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal, and Ashok Shekhar (Chairman,Indira Gandhi Nahar Board)— who are one batch senior to him.
Jain, who has an M.Sc in management and implementation of development project and bachelor in engineering (electronics and communication), has also served as the collector and district magistrate of Jaisalmer in 1988.
The government also transferred 17 IAS officers on Friday.
Additional chief secretary (ACS) Rajhans Upadhyay has been given charge of technical education, along with existing higher and Sanskrit education department and coordination –school and Sanskrit education department.
ACS Devendra Bhushan Gupta has been made finance, excise and tax. He was ACS infrastructure, PWD and chairman RSRDCC.
